All cars and motorhomes that are at least three years old must take and pass their MOT every 12 months. This is a legal requirement – and we keep things simple to make the whole process easier and stress-free for you. If you are stopped on the road and discovered to be driving with an expired MOT certificate, you may be prosecuted. The sole exception is for motorists driving their car to a booked MOT test appointment.
Not only does passing an MOT keep your vehicle road legal, it protects you. A pass on the test confirms that the model continues to be safe, efficient, and running as it should. Checks encompass the tyres and wheels, the electrical, fuel and exhaust systems, the seats, the horn and many more components. All inspections are carried out by qualified MOT testers who leave nothing to chance, going over every vehicle with a fine-toothed comb to identify any potential faults.
Your MOT must be renewed before it’s due to expire, and it’s possible to book in for testing starting one month before the expiration date on your current certificate. As an Approved MOT test centre, we are always happy to schedule you in at a convenient date and time. There are different classes of MOT tests to suit varying types of vehicles, from motorbikes and cars to passenger vehicles and commercial vans. Cars with up to eight passenger seats and motorhomes can both be tested as Class 4 vehicles. This category also encompasses ambulances and taxis. At the time of writing, the Class 4 MOT test costs £40.
